  • Jason Colenda

    Owner of 5 Rings Fitness, Jason was born and raised in Fairfax, Virginia. In high school, he played basketball at nationally ranked Bishop O’Connell High School. After graduation, he went to Villanova University where he walked-on the varsity basketball team. Jason played from 2007-2010 and was a member of Villanova’s Final Four team in 2009. During his time at Villanova, Jason obtained a B.S. in Business Administration majoring in Finance and Management with a minor in International Business. He also obtained a Master’s of Science in Finance, graduating in 2011.

    Jason currently trains extensively in the iron sports, particularly Powerlifting and Weightlifting. He lifts RAW (w/ wraps) and has a competitive total in the 242lb weight class of 1,505lbs. His best lifts are a 540lb Squat, 375lb Bench Press, 590lb Deadlift, 107KG Snatch and 125KG Clean and Jerk.

    Jason is responsible for all business and financial considerations for 5 Rings; he also works with 5 Rings’ athletes in individual or group settings. He is the strength and conditioning coach for the boys basketball program at his high school alma mater, Bishop O'Connell, and holds his USA Weightlifting Sports Performance Coaching Certificate. 

  • Danny Colenda

    Growing up in Fairfax, Va with brothers Jason (co-owner of 5 Rings) and Andy, Dan developed a passion for fitness at a young age. Playing basketball in High School, first at Bishop O'Connell then at Chantilly, he quickly realized the importance of strength training. After being introduced to the weight room as a freshmen/sophomore at O'Connell, his love for 'the game' began to transition to a love of the iron.
    With a focus on powerlifting and training young athletes, Dan hopes to inspire the next generation of gym-rats. He is a USA Weighlifting Level-2 Coach, a CrossFit Level-1 Trainer and he holds the CrossFit Football Certification. Dan has contest lifts of a 315# bench press and 515# deadlift (@215 BW);and 100Kg Snatch and 123Kg Clean and Jerk. Moving forward with 5 Rings Fitness and working with both family and long-time friends George and Scott, Dan sees training as a literal dream job. In his free time Dan spends his time with his wife Althea and their super awesome dog Henry.

  • Auston Wallace

    Our newest addition to 5 Rings Fitness, Auston was born and raised in Seattle, Washington and has also spent time living abroad in China. He first took up barbell training when he was 16 in order to further his athletic career in baseball. Having trained the squat and deadlift alongside baseball, Auston made the transition to becoming a full-time powerlifter in 2016 following the conclusion of his baseball career.

    Auston is quickly rising to the top of USA Powerlifting in the 93kg weight class. He was a  bronze medalist at 2016 USAPL Raw Nationals in the Teen III 93kg weight class. His best lifts in competition are a 617 squat, 347lb bench press, and a 650lb deadlift. 

    Auston primarily coaches our competitive powerlifters. He works with lifters both in person and online, providing programming and technique analysis.

  • Moni Laube

    The newest coaching addition to 5 Rings, Moni was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA and graduated from Duquesne University in 1997. Upon graduation he took a commissioning into the United States Marine Corps.

    He has trained for and graduated from some of the more physically and psychologically demanding schools the U.S. Military has to offer such as the U.S. Marine Corps' infantry officer course, Airborne, Air Assault, Ranger and SERE schools.

    Moni discovered crossfit in 2008. Not long after attaining his Crossfit Level I Certification, his passion grew for the iron sports. He is now a USAW Advanced Sports Performance Coach. He has also trained for and competed in a wide variety of physical tests including marathons, powerlifting, weightlifting, crossfit and kettlebell competitions, and also 4 combat tours between Iraq and Afghanistan. During his time in the military he has had the honor of training under and working with some of the industry's greats including Coach Harvey Newton, Dr. Charlie Weingroff and Dr. "Iron Mike" Davis.

    Moni's passion lies in helping athletes new to the sport of weightlifting develop on the platform. He also knows what it means to come back from injury as he had shoulder reconstruction in December of 2014. He sees the experience and the lessons learned from it as something to be shared with new lifters and fellow athletes. With his own training primarily as a weightlifter, he is looking forward to returning to the competitive platform soon.

    In his free time, Moni enjoys consuming red meat, drinking Mead, tossing axes and telling tall tales around a roaring fire.
